Thy will be done meaning: God’s will for those He redeems is the restoration of His unchangeable plan revealed in scripture – the perfect obedience of Eden.

Thy will be done meaning
Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
The ultimate purpose of God for those He redeems is the restoration of His unchangeable plan, the perfect obedience of Eden for God’s will revealed in scripture is immutable.
Hebrews 13:20,21 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus .. through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight…
Through the Blood of Jesus and much patience He works an affection in us, this results in the surrender our stubborn willfulness to His will.
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Crisis of the will
In the garden the will was on trial – ‘don’t eat of that tree’ – and the same tree spiritually tests us today. To receive nourishment and instruction from our Tree of Life (Jesus) is sufficient – no question.
Have I offered up my will to God – talking and praying it through? It’s a matter of relationship. God exposes us through many crisis calls to action:
Job 38:3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Is the will completely surrendered? Do I have the spiritual grit to make good on the transaction?
John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
John 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
