.. Not knowing it in just in a doctrinal way or as a theory but knowing it experiencially as it is worked out in our lives day by day. ‘ The Glory Of God. ‘
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. John 17:4
See Jesus knew that, He knew His hour was up. He knew He had done what God required of Him. He’s now soon to go to the cross which is going to look the most negative thing that God at this point has ever achieved and done through flesh.
And we’re talking about glorifying God? Did it look like glorifying God when Jesus went to the cross? When He looked like that bloody mess? When His disciples forsook Him? They jeered they mocked Him. And we’re talking about glorifying God? How could anything be glorified through that? This is where we need to learn about God’s glory. We have still got such a wrong concept and understanding about glorifying God. And yet this is it.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5
Learn About God’s Glory
Now only Jesus can say that. We can’t say that because He was God in flesh. Before He divested Himself He was glory. He knew of that glory. That glory was in the Godhead. So He knew that, He had some experience – some revelation and understanding that we don’t have of this glory.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5
That was His faith. That was His experience. He could fulfill all that God required of Him and more because He knew of the glory He had. He knew He was one with God and nothing could separate that. And He believed that in His flesh and was able to go to the cross. You see, Jesus had to learn faith by the things that He suffered the bible tells us.
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. John 17:6
He says ‘I’ve manifested your glory – your Word. Do you want to know what the glory of God is? I’ll tell you – here it is – the Word of God. I’m holding up now ‘God’s glory.’
