Psalm 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest..
..10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
No Excuses
.. And what is that heart? That heart acknowledges – doesn’t try to cover it up or excuse – that’s the heart He looks for. We’re so good at excusing and finding something to blame. No no we stand naked before God. We’re going to thank the Lord when we are caught away when we’re with God in glory. We’re going to praise and thank Him for the Word that He has given to us over the years. This Word that we receive if you did but know it is preserving you from yourself which is your worst enemy. The enemy is pretty is bad but I tell you ourselves is equally as bad because we so deceive ourselves, and God won’t let us do that..
Active And Honest
.. And so you see these godly affections – these desires – have to be worked in us if you want this purity of heart and motive. Because you see motive means that which is active – we have to act our faith. We have to walk in this world. We have to embrace all sorts of situations, and in all of that God wants us to have a right heart and motive that is clean and acceptable in His sight..
Me And God Alone
.. The love of God and your love for Him always reveals this purity of heart and motive.. ‘I have done this unto you and you alone. ‘ That is purity of motive and we have got to stop using excuses and face it as men and women in Christ – in maturity – that whatever He’s dealing with it’s me and God alone and I cannot use anything else. We’re so good at finding an alternative – a substitute. Those days are gone if you want a pure heart before God.
