Well I’d like to turn our attention to the scriptures today. I have a title for our teaching – and our title is ‘ Our First Love For The Father’s Heart ‘. I don’t think this needs allot of introduction as to what I want to read with regard to this from Revelation chapter two verses one to seven. Here the Spirit is speaking to the church at Ephesus.. Using what this church preached and believed as an example.. To reveal a major flaw – for repentance and getting it right.
This is why it is so important to hear what the Spirit is saying today.. This helps us to please our heavenly Father’s heart. I believe that our Father’s heart is that He wants our first love – that first commitment out of us..
Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; Revelation 2:1
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: Revelation 2:2
And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Revelation 2:3
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Revelation 2:4
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Revelation 2:5
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. Revelation 2:6
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7
It’s Relationship
.. What are the first works? The first work is to love the Lord your God with all your mind soul and being. It’s relationship, it’s giving time for Jesus, being yielded to Him.. believing.. obeying. They were losing sight of that.
This is why we make so much with regard to our first love for our Father’s heart – that it is first and foremost relationship. Because this is how the bride will make herself ready for Him in these closing days.
.. What is a lampstand for?.. Light that you may see..know..understand. Jesus came into the world to be a light, and He says He removes that if we don’t take heed..
And this is why sadly we see with some that the light starts to go out.. They need to come back to their first works – full commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not rocket science sometimes.. this has been the downfall of so many believers right through the centuries..
..This epistle is to the Body of Christ.. An organism not a denomination.. Intended for gentiles and their calling.. Revealing the mystery of the Church.. one flesh with Christ.. The spiritual doorway into the Kingdom..
