Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Pride Poverty of Spirit and The Prayer of Faith
.. We are poor in spirit because we are aware of the state that we were in, and that we have seen from The Word what it has cost our Lord to redeem and save us and to give us a right standing before Him. Those who are poor in spirit are always those also who are truly thankful – who thank The Lord. You hear the thanks coming our in their prayers and intercessions. You see we know that faith comes by hearing The Word of God (Romans 10:17) but it also comes to those who are poor in spirit – those who are truly thankful and grateful. They have learn’t from The Word of God that thankfulness and grattitude is what accompanies and authenticates our prayers of faith. A lack of thankfulness is often why our prayers of faith are not answered – pride is getting in the way and we have to deal with it..
James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Heart After God
.. James here tells us that we ask for the wrong things. We have to be aware of our deficiency; we have to hunger for God – to go deeper with Him. Remember on Sunday we looked at verse 6..
..Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled..
Filled With The Spirit
.. A right standing – a righteous life. When You are right before God you are filled. Filled with what? The Spirit of God, that is what you are filled with, not pride or self or what I want. A saint that stands righteous before God is one who is filled with The Spirit of God, and that is where we go deeper with Him. That is what The Deeper Life is all about. That’s why we’re challenged week after week. As The Bride makes herself ready she’s going deeper and deeper with God..
.. We’ve shown you that through that open door of The Baptism in The Holy Spirit you can go as far and as deep as you want in The Spirit. There is no limitation – no restriction and it’s for those who hunger, but maybe you’re not hungering because you’re not poor in spirit.. .. ..

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
Mark 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. 22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
1 Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 that no flesh should glory in his presence.
Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
